Missing Our Baby Boy

You're no longer our little boy. In fact, you rarely come over for a visit and when you do you keep busy with little things that you enjoy; and mommies and ates are not something you enjoy these days.

I miss our baby Silas so much some days.

Keep It Up, Silas!

Silas texted me yesterday. He got number 4 in the overall rankings for his grade level. Again, we are so proud of you, bunso!

My fears of you being too spoiled with all the treats we give you are unfounded. You know your priorities and you are being a very good student and son. I can't wait till we go to the beach in 2 weeks!

Birthday Coming Up

I have something for your birthday, bunso. I know I told you over the phone the other day and Daddy said that you were jumping for joy. Just don't let it get in the way of your studies, ok?

I am also planning on getting you another thing, we'll see if I can.

I Pray That You'll Be Spared

These past few days have been a bit tough. I am realizing even more that growing up is far more complicated than I thought it would be.

Silas, I hope that you will find it easier than we are finding it now. I hope that you will be spared some of our experiences. Or maybe, that you will respond and learn better than we are doing so right now.

I pray that you will find the answers more easily and less painfully...

Missing Si-si Again

Here I am at the office trying to work but I suddenly feel this overwhelming urge to see Silas. I miss my little brother. We were together last Saturday for Sam's party and we went shopping for a bit afterwards. I can't wait till I see him again.

He's in second grade now. Look at how big a boy he has become.
That's our little brother holding his balloon animal. I think it's a rabbit.

Concert

It's been a long time since I've written about our dear Kuya Silas. Mommy said you're singing in a mini-concert tonight at church. I wish we were there to watch you. We miss you!

Taekwondo

Proud of you for taking your Taekwondo lessons seriously. Really wish you would be great at the sport. But if not at least you'll learn to even be a better sport than you already are. Will need to post more pics in the future.

Winner

Today Silas was awarded the third place for reciting the poem "God Knows All Children". Its just a few lines. He did pretty well during practice at our house but when it came to the actual performance he got scared or shy, I don't really know which, because he wasn't expecting to perform on the school gym's stage. He thought it was just going to be in their classroom. Anyway he still did ok though he could have done better. Tje thing I realy like about Silas though is that he's growing up to be a great sport. He likes playing with kids and joining competitions but when he loses he just laughs it off. He says something like "That's not really what I'm good at anyway" or "I'll just join something else" or "___ was really good and better than I am." At six he's already learning his limitations and doesn't really chaffe at them. He's also learning the value of practice and that he has to work hard to do well. But most of all he's learning that though he may be good sometimes there's someone better than him and that it's ok as long as he did his better. Silas is a WAY better sport than I am. And I'm glad for him that he is. I do hope he carries it with him till he grows up. It's not just about winning but how you handle your wins and losses. So far he's doing pretty great.

All Grown Up and Loving Sammy

It's been such a long time since I lasted posted about Silas. He's all grown up now and is acting as Sam's official "Kuya" although he's really Sam's uncle. I love the way Silas takes loves and takes care of Sam. He's a really doting Kuya and a very protective one to boot.

Having a good time at KFC.

Getting a dragon glitter tattoo.

Though we spent Christmas at Sucol together. Nana and I still miss you so much. Such a pity that we won't get to see your face the first time you see our gift (the baseball bat) and Daddy's gift (a real helmet!). Well I hope that you could come and spend the weekend with us soon. We love you so much and you're such fun to take care of. We miss you so much!

Scraped Knee

Scraped his knee last week. Didn't want mommy to touch his knee at all so that he wasn't able to go to school. Ha! Excuses! I wish i could use a scraped knee to get off from work early or to take a day of. One scraped knee per month!

When he leaves....

Si's mama will be leaving for London and it looks like his real family'll take him back when she leaves. I'm not sure how soon it'll be. But never is still too soon for me.

What'll will we do when he leaves? It's crazy that i feel so bad about it. I act like its ok and try to be logical but i hate it. I mean he's 4 yrs old and has been living with from Mondays to Fridays since he was just 6 months! We're as much his family as they are but we want the best for him. Oh well, if only i can convince myself that his going back to his family is really the best thing for him then i wouldn't (or rather shouldn't) feel so bad.

I hope he never feels torn between his two families for his sake but i hope he'll always see us as his other real family.
