Taekwondo

Proud of you for taking your Taekwondo lessons seriously. Really wish you would be great at the sport. But if not at least you'll learn to even be a better sport than you already are. Will need to post more pics in the future.

Winner

Today Silas was awarded the third place for reciting the poem "God Knows All Children". Its just a few lines. He did pretty well during practice at our house but when it came to the actual performance he got scared or shy, I don't really know which, because he wasn't expecting to perform on the school gym's stage. He thought it was just going to be in their classroom. Anyway he still did ok though he could have done better. Tje thing I realy like about Silas though is that he's growing up to be a great sport. He likes playing with kids and joining competitions but when he loses he just laughs it off. He says something like "That's not really what I'm good at anyway" or "I'll just join something else" or "___ was really good and better than I am." At six he's already learning his limitations and doesn't really chaffe at them. He's also learning the value of practice and that he has to work hard to do well. But most of all he's learning that though he may be good sometimes there's someone better than him and that it's ok as long as he did his better. Silas is a WAY better sport than I am. And I'm glad for him that he is. I do hope he carries it with him till he grows up. It's not just about winning but how you handle your wins and losses. So far he's doing pretty great.

All Grown Up and Loving Sammy

It's been such a long time since I lasted posted about Silas. He's all grown up now and is acting as Sam's official "Kuya" although he's really Sam's uncle. I love the way Silas takes loves and takes care of Sam. He's a really doting Kuya and a very protective one to boot.

Having a good time at KFC.

Getting a dragon glitter tattoo.

Scraped Knee

Scraped his knee last week. Didn't want mommy to touch his knee at all so that he wasn't able to go to school. Ha! Excuses! I wish i could use a scraped knee to get off from work early or to take a day of. One scraped knee per month!

When he leaves....

Si's mama will be leaving for London and it looks like his real family'll take him back when she leaves. I'm not sure how soon it'll be. But never is still too soon for me.

What'll will we do when he leaves? It's crazy that i feel so bad about it. I act like its ok and try to be logical but i hate it. I mean he's 4 yrs old and has been living with from Mondays to Fridays since he was just 6 months! We're as much his family as they are but we want the best for him. Oh well, if only i can convince myself that his going back to his family is really the best thing for him then i wouldn't (or rather shouldn't) feel so bad.

I hope he never feels torn between his two families for his sake but i hope he'll always see us as his other real family.

Weekends

Silas goes home to PCARRD every weekend. I sometimes cant wait for Fridays but then I also hate it. It gets lonely in the mornings with no one to irritate me by hopping into bed with me and "chatting" with me while I'm still half asleep....

SISI

Silas Job Carpio, the little boy that changed my life. SiSi (pronounced Saisai) is not my child but I love him so much that I sometimes think that its ok not to have a baby someday because God has already placed this miracle in my life. Silas was born 13 days after my nineteenth birthday and I was there for him from day one.

The first time I saw him, I was with his papa looking through the glass windows of the NIUC. I remember feeling a sense of wonder as I looked at him coz he was so beautiful and strong. He was not wrinkled and ugly like nost babies are right after they were born, instead he was so fat and pink and he was screaming his little head off. He looked so funny. I left for lunch and when I came back a few hours later he was still screaming...I should have known then that I his screams would touch me in an entirely new way...
