Winner

Today Silas was awarded the third place for reciting the poem "God Knows All Children". Its just a few lines. He did pretty well during practice at our house but when it came to the actual performance he got scared or shy, I don't really know which, because he wasn't expecting to perform on the school gym's stage. He thought it was just going to be in their classroom. Anyway he still did ok though he could have done better. Tje thing I realy like about Silas though is that he's growing up to be a great sport. He likes playing with kids and joining competitions but when he loses he just laughs it off. He says something like "That's not really what I'm good at anyway" or "I'll just join something else" or "___ was really good and better than I am." At six he's already learning his limitations and doesn't really chaffe at them. He's also learning the value of practice and that he has to work hard to do well. But most of all he's learning that though he may be good sometimes there's someone better than him and that it's ok as long as he did his better. Silas is a WAY better sport than I am. And I'm glad for him that he is. I do hope he carries it with him till he grows up. It's not just about winning but how you handle your wins and losses. So far he's doing pretty great.
